Marking a milestone of national pride, the Vietnamese Government has gifted each Vietnamese citizen 100,000 VND (4 USD) for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, with nearly 11 trillion VND allocated; authorities were tasked with ensuring a swift and accurate delivery ahead of September 2 alongside a grand parade in Hanoi.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed the nationwide distribution of a one-time cash gift to every citizen to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Decision No. 1867 issued by the Government: each Vietnamese citizen received 100,000 VND (around 4 USD). The Ministry of Finance has already transferred nearly 11 trillion VND ($417 million) from the central budget to local authorities to carry out the initiative.
Local People’s Committees, together with the police, commercial banks, and provincial authorities, were tasked with verifying recipient lists to ensure that the funds were delivered safely, promptly, and without duplication. Payments were to be made either via bank transfer or in cash, with the process expected to be completed before the September 2 holiday.
The State Bank of Vietnam coordinated with financial institutions to secure smooth transactions and adequate cash supplies nationwide. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Security was ordered to provide support in verifying beneficiaries and safeguarding the distribution. The Government Office has stated that they will monitor implementation and report any issues that arise.
The cash distribution was part of wider celebrations commemorating Vietnam’s independence movement. In 1945, the August Revolution ended nearly a century of colonial and imperial rule, culminating in President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.
This year’s anniversary was featured as one of the largest parades in decades. Planned highlights included a torch relay, ceremonial cannon fire, an Air Force flyover, and marches involving both military and civilian groups. More than 40 armed forces blocs, specialised police units, naval detachments, and cultural and sporting groups will participate. The finale will feature a large-scale mass display forming symbolic patterns and words, set against a backdrop of 11 army units, seven police formations, and honour guards at the grandstand.
With both the cash gifts and the grand parade, the government aimed to honour the historic milestone and ensure that all citizens partake in the national celebration.
